The original plan was a single brick skin round the prefab, but decided to double brick cavity wall & later removal of prefab from inside, Which we did. We dug the footings in November 78 & started laying bricks but were stopped by the weather over Christmas & January 79. Eldest son Timothy going out.

We ( myself & 4 youngest children) built the pool in 4 weeks from digging the first spit to filling with water.I borrowed a mixer. The base was 4" of concrete painted & the sides were fibre glass with 3" of reinforced concrete behind. Size 24ft X 16ft X 4ft deep. Half in the ground.

The pool had a filter system of sand in a fibre glass tank & a water pump with a long tube with a brush attached to a hose pipe. After cleaning the pool I skimmed the muck off the filter & washed under the water tap then replaced the clean sand.
