Concrete Sleeper MouldsWhen I decided to build a steam engine, I of cause wanted some track to run on. Having lived here for 40 years I knew the land was red clay & very sticky when wet, so I knew wooden sleepers wouldn't last 5 minutes. I decided on concrete so I came up with the design that I used which is simple & it works. The only alteration I have made is to the shape which is prettier, more economical & looks professional. These are the plans as used by me. | ![]() | ||

I woke on 25th June 07 & found 12" of water on the front. This had come down the lane to the right from the fields behind, hence the red clay. There was 2" of water under the floor boards. Within 12 hours the water had gone & the track was undamaged. |
