| In1997 I told my wife I would like to build a model steam engine that I could ride round the garden on. She thought it was a good idea & suggested I use the front room as a workshop as we no longer used it as such & as the children had all left home we had plenty of spare room.So I bought an old Colchester master lathe, a large pillar drill,a Taiwanese bandsaw for wood work which I converted to cut metal, welding & silver soldering tackle. I had a small bench drill given me. I had a wood lathe so I knew how to use one so with some trepidation I started.I later bought a ML7 & a Senior Mill which has made things easier.I also bought a later Colchester student & scrapped the old one. | ||||||||||

Hot Air EnginesAfter finishing No.4 the Fairley in 2002 I stopped building engines until No.5 in October 2004 I spent a year building various hot air engines, but I decided the only practical use was for pumping cold water.
